Learn how to prepare a cream with analgesic and anti-inflammatory properties at home

We are so used to using creams, ointments and remedies with analgesic and anti-inflammatory properties that few people remember that there are all-natural alternatives that can give the same results.

If you suffer from bruises, muscle pain, and joint pain like arthritis, you know how uncomfortable they can be and disrupt our daily lives.

Fortunately, there are some natural ingredients with active components that contain analgesic and anti-inflammatory properties, and allow you to effectively relieve this type of pain.

The products sold by the pharmaceutical industry often contain the same active ingredients as the natural ones, but they also usually contain chemical substances whose characteristics are not known to us.

If you are concerned about always using natural and homemade products, today we will teach you the recipe for a cream made with two very simple ingredients that can be easily found in any supermarket.

This cream can treat different types of pain and relieve inflammation, so it is worth knowing.

Ingredients with analgesic properties

The natural cream recipe is very simple and uses only two ingredients. Before teaching the step-by-step process of its preparation, we will explain the benefits that these two components have to offer to our health.

The main ingredient is cayenne pepper, whose properties are complemented by olive oil.

cayenne pepper

The active component in pepper that gives it its slightly smoldering (or very stingy, depending on the variety you choose) taste is called capsaicin. The more hot the pepper, the higher its concentration of capsaicin.

Capsaicin is present in some drugs commonly sold in pharmacies, as it is able to inhibit the action of a neurotransmitter called Substance P, which is responsible for sending pain signals to our brain.

If we manage to block Substance P, our brain is never “warned” that something is hurting, and consequently we don’t feel the pain.

A true dream for anyone who suffers from the discomfort of muscle and joint pain on a daily basis, and all of this in a natural way.

Olive oil

To make homemade creams, the recipes usually indicate the use of some natural oil, in which case we will use olive oil.

It is an extremely useful complement to the capsaicin present in pepper, as it contains, in its composition, oleocanthal, a natural anti-inflammatory agent, which acts by inhibiting the activity of an enzyme called cyclooxygenase (COX).

Thus, oleocanthal has a pharmacological action similar to that of ibuprofen sold in pharmacies.

This pair of ingredients is, therefore, perfect for treating body aches quickly and effectively through the recipe that we will teach below.

Cream recipe with analgesic and anti-inflammatory properties

Ingredients

  • 10 dried and chopped cayenne peppers
  • 1 cup of olive oil (230 g)

It is important to emphasize that the pepper to be used in the preparation of this cream must be dry, so that we can obtain better results. To ensure this is the case, take some fresh peppers, cut off the top and leave them in a dark, ventilated place so they can dry.

After three weeks, the peppers will be at their best time to make the cream.

How to prepare

  • Place the peppers in a glass jar, making sure they are not taking up more than 3/4 of it.
  • Then add the olive oil. You can adjust the amount, remembering that it should be enough to completely cover the peppers.
  • If you like, you can enhance the effects of these two ingredients by adding some herb or natural ingredient with anti-inflammatory properties, such as ginger or turmeric, for example.
  • After mixing everything, keep the bottle in a cool, light-free area for at least 10 days so the nutrients can be concentrated and are completely ready to use.
  • After this period of time, strain the oil, drain the peppers well, and keep the final liquid stored in an airtight jar. This natural remedy can be preserved for up to 6 months.

How to apply the treatment with analgesic properties

Application-cream-analgesic
  • The application of the cream must be done through gentle massages that allow the area affected by pain to relax. You don’t need to use a lot of force when spreading the product on the skin.
  • Just take a small amount of oil with your hands and apply it to the affected area several times a day, whenever you can.
  • Remember that this product should only be used topically and applied directly to the skin, and never ingested, even though it is made from natural ingredients.
