The SAVERS method is based on six morning exercises to help you reach your personal and professional goals. More than a method, it’s a philosophy of life that will change the way you look at things and focus on your goals. Learn all about it below.
What is the SAVERS method?
The SAVERS method, or “The Morning Miracle”, was created by Hal Elrod and published in The Miracle Morning . In it, the author explains the six steps you must take first thing in the morning to focus your life and achieve whatever you want.
Hal Elrod suffered a serious accident from which he miraculously recovered with almost no sequelae. In this book, he talks about his experience and what he has achieved with his philosophy of life, performing this ritual.
The method name reflects each initial letter of the 6 steps you must perform during the morning. These are:
- S of silence (silence)
- A of affirmation (affirmation)
- V visualization (visualization)
- And exercise (exercise)
- R reading (reading)
- S of scribing (writing)
It is based on the belief that the course of the day will be influenced by how we start. So, if we start the day focused on what we want to achieve, it will be easier to achieve our goals.
On the contrary, if we spend the first moments of our day paying attention to other less important things, like checking WhatsApp or email, we will deviate more often from our goal throughout the day.
What are the steps to follow?
The first thing you need to know about this method is that you will have to wake up an hour earlier each morning. For some, this is an unnecessary effort, but the author highlights how essential it is to have the right time to perform all the steps.
It is about remaining silent for the first 5 minutes after waking up. This will reduce our stress and anxiety levels. These minutes can be devoted to meditation, reflecting and focusing on the breath, or setting a purpose.
It is based on repeating certain phrases, purposes or goals that make us feel better about ourselves. We can use phrases that come to mind or phrases from songs or readings.
The basis is to repeat them every day to improve our mood and our self-esteem. With them, we will start our day with much more strength and energy to achieve what we set out to do.
This step will also take five minutes. Let’s dedicate ourselves to visualizing ourselves as if we’ve already achieved the goal we’ve set for ourselves.
It may sound strange, but repeating phrases that remind us that we can do it and imagining that we did it will make it easier for us to focus on achieving the goal.
We will devote at least 20 minutes to this step. In these 20 minutes, we will choose some type of exercise that we like to do. This will serve to activate our body and fill us with energy.
The most recommended is that it be an aerobic exercise, which will activate us even more. Despite this, we can do any exercise that makes us feel good, whether it’s a short yoga class, Pilates class, or running.
As with exercise, we will also spend 20 minutes reading something we enjoy. It can be the newspaper, a novel that intrigues us or any text that motivates or focuses our mind.
Finally, we will move on to the final 20 minutes of this ritual. When writing, we intend to write ideas that come to mind, purposes that we have, or simply keep a personal journal.
We must do it manually, in a notebook dedicated exclusively to this purpose.
The SAVERS method within the routine
The author, and many followers, guarantee that by carrying out this routine continuously, your life and the way you see things will improve. That way, it will be easier to reach the goals.
However, only you have the power in your life, and it should be used thoroughly to perform this or other routines that will make you reach your goals. It may not be exactly as the author describes it, but you can adapt its principles to your daily life.
